Digital graphic artists and designers bring visual solutions to communications. Media communications, movies, video games, and advertising are some of the major business sectors that rely on digital graphic art. An increasing number of graphic designers also develop material for web pages, interactive media, and multimedia projects. Graphic Designers, or Digital Graphic Artists, may be able to find professional applications for their skills in a range of careers and industries.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, as demand for graphic art services from advertisers and design firms continues, employment for graphic artists is expected to grow 13 percent in the 2008 to 2010 decade. This is about as fast as average for all occupations.
Develop your digital design and programming skills with hands-on studio practice. In the course of the digital graphic art associate's degree, you could also build your design portfolio in preparation for a graphic designer job. Graduates often pursue careers as graphic designers, productions artists, Web site designers, or desktop publishers.(1)
An associate's degree in Digital Graphic Art could help you develop your visual talent and creativity for a career in digital design. In addition to learning the fundamentals of visual communications and design, an associate's degree program should expose you to current digital graphic art software applications.(1) Digital graphic designers must keep up with new and updated computer graphics and design software, either on their own or through formal software training programs. Because consumer tastes can change fairly quickly, designers also need to be well read, open to new ideas and influences, and quick to react to changing trends.
