Computer-Aided Design for Broad Career Options
Computer-Aided Design (CAD), also referred to as Computer-Aided Drafting, is essential to design and engineering in our technology-driven age. Engineers and designers rely on CAD to plan and analyze designs, products, or media projects. CAD engineers are used to design blueprints, handle cost management issues, and rapidly prototype design concepts.

Whether it is a new car design, a kettle, a room plan, a Web site, or a newspaper layout, CAD is the starting point. CAD saves a great deal of time and money by enabling the production of prototypes that have already been fully worked out in virtual reality.

CAD also facilitates artistic work such as creating logos and packaging design without the need for actual trial and error. A diploma in Computer-Aided Design/Drafting can give you the in-demand skills you need to find employment. Many CAD designers also choose to work on a freelance basis.

What to Expect with a CAD Diploma

Media – from newspapers, books, and magazines to television and motion pictures – need designers with CAD credentials. Industries as diverse as advertising, publishing, computer design, video gaming, Web design, engineering, science, and technical consulting are also looking for skilled CAD designers.
