Cleveland Job Development Specialist Mike Metcalf Discuss His Role in College Graduates' Lives If you're a student approaching graduation from our Cleveland or Cleveland West (North Olmsted) Campus, Remington College Job Development Specialist Mike Metcalf is a good guy to have in your corner. In fact, some have taken to calling him "The Mayor of Remington," likely due in part to the good will he encourages - and exudes - both inside and outside our campuses in Ohio. "You can often find me at community networking events, telling people about the many good things we do at the school," he says. Mike assists in placing graduates of our technical and degree programs at the Cleveland campuses. He comments, "I do Q&A's with students in class to talk about what's going on in the marketplace and to learn more about their goals and desires after they finish school. On the outside, I call on and visit companies to develop and grow relationships with them in the hope that they will hire our graduates." Mike sometimes attends client visits with the other area Job Development Specialists and often shares contacts to ensure that everyone is uncovering as many opportunities as possible for students. He also shares information with externship coordinators about companies that might be able to use our students for externships. Says Mike, "We have a lot of people at both campuses that I interact with, and we look forward to doing everything we can to assist students in the best way possible and work as a cohesive team." About his role, Mike relates, "I have the opportunity to leverage my prior work experiences in my current job." His previous experience includes call center management, corporate training, quality assurance management, relationship management, and staffing. "I was also a Program Advisory Committee (PAC) member at both of Remington College's Cleveland-area campuses prior to working here and was familiar with the programs, and some of the students and employees. I truly wake up every day excited to do what I do." A native of Long Island, New York, Mike has an associate's degree in Business Management from Suffolk County Community College and a bachelor's in Marketing from the New York Institute of Technology.
