  • Why Choose Remington College’s Cosmetology Training Program?

Our Columbia cosmetology diploma program isn’t just a hair or beauty school – it’s a well-rounded program intended to teach you the art, science, and business of cosmetology.

As a student in our 12-month Cosmetology Diploma program, you’ll have the opportunity to:(3)

    • Earn a cosmetology tool kit: A kit valued at more than $2,000 is included in the cost of tuition and comes with a flat iron, thermal stove, curlers, clippers, scissors, and more. At Remington College, we want you to graduate with tools you’ll need to start working in your field once you earn your South Carolina cosmetology license.(2)
    • Gain experience above and beyond classroom training: We’re known in the Columbia community for our cosmetology-focused events that bring local clients to you.
      • Cuts for Kids: Help children get ready to go back to school by providing complimentary haircuts.
      • Prom Night Makeovers: Practice your up-do’s and nail styling on high schoolers who want to look stylish for one of their most important events.
      • Hair Presentations: Come up with a theme, join a group, and hit the mall to participate in a cosmetology presentation that shows off your skills in hair, nails, make-up, and more.
      • Community Volunteerism: Use your new skills to help others look and feel better by providing manicures and pedicures to breast cancer survivors, the elderly, shelter residents, and caregivers of special needs children.
    • Earn recognition for your hard work: Our cosmetology training is divided into “modules.” At the end of each module, you’ll gather with fellow cosmetology students for a chance to be recognized for Academic Excellence, Perfect Attendance, Highest Retail Sales, Highest Client Requests, and more.
    • Accumulate the salon floor hours you need to qualify for state certification: Your time in cosmetology school doesn’t just count toward your diploma – it can also count toward the required number of salon hours needed to qualify for your South Carolina Cosmetologist’s license.
    • Network with the Midlands-area cosmetology community: Whenever possible, your cosmetology instructors bring guest speakers from local businesses to the classroom and schedule field trips to industry trade shows.
