Remington College’s school of Cosmetology is designed to develop your product knowledge, artistry, and skills so that you can help people look and feel their best.

 

The cosmetology diploma program covers industry fundamentals and the basics of skin care, hair care, and nail care. No previous cosmetology college experience is necessary for program entry.

Study in the Cosmetology Classroom and a Real-World Setting(2)

Our cosmetology program offers both classroom instruction and lab training conducted in an on-site, full-service beauty school setting.(2) There, you’ll have the chance to work first on mannequins and then with real clients. From styling hair to giving manicures and pedicures, this hands-on cosmetology school experience in an atmosphere that reflects a real working environment can help you hone your skills and feel better prepared to enter the workforce.

Matrix

Earn a Matrix CRAFT Certificate

 

If you pass a series of Matrix technical assessments, you’ll receive a certificate signifying your achievement in the advanced color, texture, and cutting techniques of the Matrix CRAFT Program. Around the time of your graduation from cosmetology school, you should be ready to take the exam for your state cosmetology license and begin your career!

Below are descriptions of the options available to our Medical Billing and Coding students. If a student decides to pursue more than one certification, or requires a retest, then the student will be responsible for the payment and registration for each additional certification and exam fee.

Gain Access to Matrix’s Online Cosmetology Employment Database

You could have the opportunity to interview with salons sponsored by Matrix. You may qualify for cosmetology jobs in a number of salon settings and work as a hair stylist, nail technician, or skin care specialist. You may also find employment at spas or resorts that offer beauty care services.

 

After completing the cosmetology school, you can pursue coursework in hair cutting, coloring, and styling, available at a discounted cost through the Matrix Global Academy.

  • Hair Care:Hair care includes cutting, styling, coloring, and chemically treating hair. Cosmetologists who choose to specialize in hair care are called hairdressers or hairstylists, and they often work in salons or spas.
  • Nail Care:Some cosmetologists, known as nail technicians or manicurists, focus exclusively on nail care, which includes manicures, pedicures, polish, and extensions.
  • Skin Care:Skin care specialists who specialize in advanced cleansing, waxing, and exfoliation techniques.

What are the job prospects for those with cosmetology training?

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), overall employment for those seeking a career as a hairdresser, hairstylist, or cosmetologist is expected to increase by 10 percent from 2014 to 2024, which is faster than average for all occupations.(2)

Is licensing required for cosmetology careers?

In order to begin work, cosmetologists must be licensed. Licensing requirements vary by state, but generally candidates are required to graduate from a cosmetology program and pass the state licensing exam.(2)
