  • How to Become a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA)

    Certified Dental Assistant exams are provided by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB). DANB is nationally recognized and the Certified Dental Assistant certification is used to identify competent and qualified dental assistants.

    There are three component exams to the CDA. All three components must be passed within a five-year period to receive your CDA certification.

  • Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) Exams and Application Feeds

    1. 1. Radiation and Health Safety (RHS) $150
    2. 2. Infection Control (ICE) $150
    3. 3. General Chairside (GC) $175

    Remington College dental assisting students will take the RHS and ICE exams before graduation, but will not be fully certified until they complete the GC exam. Prerequisites for the GC exam include 3,500 hours dental assistant work experience and current CPR certification. For more information on the CDA exams, please visit www.danb.org 

    How to Become a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA)

    The Registered Dental Assistant exam is available to Remington College Dental Assisting students, and depending upon your campus location it will be made available through the state board of dental examiners, state board of health, or the American Medical Technologist (AMT) association.

    RDA Exam Application fee: $95

    Students who wish to take the RDA exam, and have Remington College pay the application fee, must fill out the RDA application and appropriate paperwork, have a 3.0 GPA, and be in good financial standing with Remington College.

    The RDA exam is available to students at the following campuses: 

    • Fort Worth Campus via the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (SBDE)
    • Houston Southeast Campus via the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (SBDE)
    • North Houston Campus via the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (SBDE)
    • Nashville Campus via the Tennessee Board of Health
    • Tampa Campus via the American Medical Technologists (AMT)
