Fort Worth Dental Assisting Student Mindi Dawson Receives Award from TDAA's Lois K. Solomon Scholarship Committee Contributed by Joy Cornwell, Campus Librarian On April 12, 2011, Remington College - Fort Worth Dental Assisting Student Mindi Dawson was delighted to discover that she was the recipient of the Texas Dental Assistants Association's (TDAA's) Lois K. Solomon Dental Assisting Scholarship, in the amount of $500. On May 7, 2011, Mindi and her two children, Nicolette and Ryan, accepted an invitation by Ronda V. Lane, TDAA Scholarship Chairperson, to attend the TDAA Annual Session in San Antonio, Texas, and accept her award. "I was very excited to attend a TDAA meeting, and I met members from all over Texas and from my local Fort Worth Chapter," said Mindi. In recalling her experience, Mindi said, "I was called on stage to receive my award, and Ronda Lane handed me a big check and asked me to say a few words. I was so nervous, but I remembered to thank Remington College and especially Rhonda Abbott, my dental instructor. Without her, I wouldn't have even known there was a scholarship out there waiting for me." Mindi Dawson's Career Goals When asked about her future plans, Mindi said, "My goal is to strengthen my skills and become a dental hygienist so that one day I can go on mission trips with my church to help those who don't have the luxury of going to the dentist." Remington College congratulates Mindi on winning her well-deserved scholarship award. About the TDAA and Its Scholarships The TDAA annually awards scholarships in the amount of no less than $100 at their Annual Session. The Lois K.
