As oral health has become essential in the U.S. public health agenda, the importance of dental healthcare team members has developed and grown. And with this growth and recognition, the important role of the dental assistant has become more focused as job opportunities have increased.* Dental assistants provide different types of patient care in addition to performing office and laboratory duties.

The duties of a dental assistant are performed either chairside, in the dental lab, or in the dental practice’s business office. A typical dental assistant training agenda includes a study of basic body systems and functions, oral anatomy, dental science, dental materials, computer and office applications, and oral radiology in preparation for these job duties.

Tampa, FL – May 29, 2009 - Remington College–Tampa Campus is now enrolling students for its new Dental Assisting Diploma Program. The program curriculum includes training that will qualify students for an entry-level position as a dental assistant.

Dental assistants support dentists and dental hygienists in a variety of important duties, generally working under the direct supervision of a dentist. When they're not working with patients, dental assistants may be found performing general office tasks and laboratory work.

All Dental Assisting faculty members and students at Remington College – Fort Worth Campus were pleased to attend this year’s Southwest Dental Conference, held on January 13 to 15, 2011, and sponsored by the Dallas Dental Society and the American Dental Association.

The week of March 6 through 12, 2011, marked the 33rd annual National Dental Assistants Recognition Week. This commemorative week recognizes and acknowledges the contributions and efforts of dental assistants and the vital role they play on the dental health care team.

Remington College – Fort Worth Dental Assisting Student Mindi Dawson was delighted to discover that she was the recipient of the Texas Dental Assistants Association’s (TDAA’s) Lois K. Solomon Dental Assisting Scholarship, in the amount of $500. On May 7, 2011, Mindi and her two children, Nicolette and Ryan, accepted an invitation by Ronda V. Lane, TDAA Scholarship Chairperson, to attend the TDAA Annual Session in San Antonio, Texas, and accept her award. “I was very excited to attend a TDAA meeting, and I met members from all over Texas and from my local Fort Worth Chapter,” said Mindi.

 On June 15, 2011, students and faculty in the Dental Hygiene degree program at Remington College – Nashville Campus partnered with the American Dental Hygienists’ Association to host a child safety and forensics event for children ...  

On June 11, 2011, Remington College – Fort Worth Campus and its Dental Assisting program held its first-ever “Safe Smiles” event, which provided an opportunity for local families to help protect and enhance their overall oral health.

Michelle Parks, a recent Remington College Dental Assisting graduate at our Nashville Campus, was recently honored with a student achievement award and a Juliette A. Southard/Oral-B Scholarship presented by the American Dental Assisting Association (ADAA).
