Allied Health Students at Fort Worth Campus Focus on Certification
Representing our Medical Assisting with X-Ray (Limited Scope)/EKG and Medical Billing and Coding programs, a group of 51 Fort Worth Campus Allied Health students accepted the challenge, studied hard, and prepared to take one of the following certification exams on May 20, 2011: coding, medical assisting, EKG, or phlebotomy. “Passing my certification exam will allow me to have more opportunities in the medical field,” said MA-X student Julieta Serano.

Biannual Mock Clinic at Fort Worth
The Fort Worth Campus Health Sciences Department held its biannual Mock Clinic on September 13,2011. The Mock Clinic is an opportunity for students in our Fort Worth Health Sciences programs to interact with one another and practice their skills in settings that simulate an actual work environment.

Blood – it may all be red, but it’s definitely not all the same. That’s why Remington College is continuing its series of blood drives to recruit more minority blood donors to benefit local residents who need specific types of blood as part of their treatment for sickle cell disease and other blood disorders.

Cowboy Santa Distributes Toys to Children from Fort Worth College Students
As Thanksgiving approached and the Christmas season was just weeks away, the faculty, staff, and students of Remington College in Fort Worth began their children’s toy drive to benefit the local Cowboy Santa program.

Dental Assisting Mindi Dawson Award from TDAA Lois Solomon Scholarship
Remington College – Fort Worth Dental Assisting Student Mindi Dawson was delighted to discover that she was the recipient of the Texas Dental Assistants Association’s (TDAA’s) Lois K. Solomon Dental Assisting Scholarship, in the amount of $500. On May 7, 2011, Mindi and her two children, Nicolette and Ryan, accepted an invitation by Ronda V. Lane, TDAA Scholarship Chairperson, to attend the TDAA Annual Session in San Antonio, Texas, and accept her award. “I was very excited to attend a TDAA meeting, and I met members from all over Texas and from my local Fort Worth Chapter,” said Mindi.

Fan Drive Means a Cooler Summer for Meals on Wheels Recipients

Fort Worth College Students Participate in Important Holiday Blood Donations
From June through December 2010, a total of 282 donors from the Fort
Worth Campus participated in Carter Blood Care blood drives. In total,
202 whole blood units were donated by Remington College students,
faculty, and staff.

Edgar Gonzalez, a Criminal Justice associate’s degree student at Remington College – Fort Worth Campus, has been selected as the 2009 “Outstanding Performer of the Year” among all operatives at the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS).

Fort Worth Criminal Justice Students Face Off in the Second Annual Criminal Justice Olympics
Among the events was one called Facial Recognition, which
allows the user to create and re-create billions of composite images of
human faces. Facial features selected from a database are automatically
combined to produce a photo-quality composite image. The technology
helps law enforcement agencies identify, track, and apprehend suspects.

Blackwell received a “Contract Contest 2010” award, gaining second
place for securing 25 new externship sites in just a few months. Ms.

Fort Worth Fight Against Cancer at 2011 Relay For Life
Each year, Remington College – Fort Worth employees participate in supporting the work of the American Cancer Society (ACS), and 2011 marked the Campus’s third year of participation in the ACS “Relay For Life” event. This annual event gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. Because cancer never sleeps, the Relays are overnight and sometimes last up to 24 hours.

The National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP) and the Be The Match® Foundation
are nonprofit organizations dedicated to creating an opportunity for all
patients to receive the bone marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant they
