Our Houston College Community Events

As a student at Remington College – Houston Campus, you don’t just have the opportunity to attend classes. You also have a great chance to engage with the local Westchase community.

On-Campus Activities Include:

• Blood drives aimed at recruiting minority blood donations and saving lives: Frequent blood drives are held to bring the Campus together for the sake of saving lives. Blood drives are organized by the Health Sciences Department Chair and Remington Colleges’ corporate headquarters.
• Cuts for Kids, an annual event that provides complimentary haircuts to children 17 and younger: Organized by our Cosmetology Department Chair, this event brings the community to our Campus for complimentary haircuts in the two weeks prior to students’ first day back to school.
• Job fairs to bring employers to the Campus: Hosted by our Director of Career Services in the spring and fall, our job fairs allow employers to meet our students, see the quality of our career-training, and conduct interviews with graduates and those nearing graduation.⁽¹⁾  
• Toys for Tots holiday drives to give back to our community: Championed by Campus President LaShundia Brooks, this holiday-focused toy drive allows students to give back to the community without leaving the Campus.

Each event is geared to give back to the local area that we service, and each event is attended by students, faculty, and staff alike. We also benefit from active participation by graduates as well as from individuals in the community.

• Cosmetology, which offers you hands-on training in skin, hair, and nail care in a salon-like environment.
• Electronic Technology, in which you can get hands-on training in communications, instrumentation, or digital electronics.
• Medical Assisting, which lets you learn and practice techniques like CPR and blood pressure monitoring.
• Medical Assisting with X-Ray Tech (Limited Scope) & EKG, which can prepare you in the proper techniques for positioning patients and taking X-rays and EKGs.
• Medical Billing and Coding, in which you can get hands-on training in medical terminology and coding for medical billing and insurance purposes.
• Pharmacy Technician, which can show you how to work hand in hand with pharmacists to help mix, measure, and dispense medications in retail, mail-order, or hospital pharmacies, assisted-living facilities, and more. ⁽¹⁾
