Dental Assistant Training in a Hands-on Setting
The manual/digital X-ray is one of the first pieces of equipment you’ll be taught to use during our dental assistant training program in Houston/Webster. Manual/digital X-rays are commonly used in dental diagnostics.
You’ll begin working in a simulated chairside dental assisting setting beginning in the third month of your classes, so you can get a real feel for the role of dental assistant. You’ll stand out from other healthcare students on-campus by wearing light blue scrubs to class.
Classes are based around hands-on training, and as you progress through the Dental Assistant training program, you’ll have the opportunity to receive training and instruction in our:
- X-ray lab/lecture room.
- Computer lab.
- Operative dental lab.

Webster/Houston Dental Assistant Externship and Certification
When you’re ready for your externship and the last module of your program, you’ll get the opportunity to practice your dental assisting skills in an actual dental office.(2)
What better way to prepare for the job than to learn from and work side by side with practicing dental professionals!(1)
Once you complete your externship and finish your dental assistant training at Remington College in Webster, you’ll be eligible to take the state exam to become a Registered Dental Assistant!
We’re with you each step of the way, offering help as you prepare for the certification exam by giving you access to tutors and exam study materials while you’re in school. And, we cover the fee for your first exam attempt! (3)

Dental Assistant Training in Class and in Field in Southeast Houston
As a student in our Houston Southeast Dental Assisting school program, you have opportunities to not only learn in class but also make some connections in the community along the way.
- Field Trips: Field trips are an important part of the educational experience offered by the program, and past events have included attending the annual Houston Dental Convention.
- Community Involvement: Remington College gives back, and dental assisting students at our Houston Southeast Campus have helped the local community safeguard its children by creating “toothprints.”
Since dental imprints are as unique as fingerprints, capturing a child’s toothprint can help with identification and can even aid scent-dog tracking to help find a missing child. Safe Smiles is one of many community activities that you, as a Remington College Dental Assisting student, can participate in to practice your skills and meet members of the community.

Houston Southeast Dental Assistant Training Team
All of our Houston Southeast Dental Assisting instructors are RDA certified and have a minimum of five years of experience in the field.
Our instructors’ combined years of experience include working in these areas:
- Orthodontics.
- General dentistry practices (performing chairside assisting and back-office/front-office duties).
They know the profession, and they are eager to share their knowledge and real-world experience to help prepare you for a dental assisting career.
