Giving Back: Blood Drive to Aid Employee Inspires Donor Turnout at Lafayette Campus Remington College - Lafayette Campus joined forces with Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center to collect 46 pints of blood for employee Donald "Al" Alexander on February 25, 2010, during a day-long blood drive held on Campus. Mr. Alexander, a janitor at Lafayette Campus since 2007, became ill in October 2009 and was hospitalized and unable to work. His medical treatment was extensive and costly, and the blood drive was organized to help cover his medical bills and to boost the local blood supply. For each pint of blood collected during the drive, Our Lady of Lourdes donated $27 toward Mr. Alexander's medical expenses. "The hospital mentioned that 46 pints is a huge success. And the campus was happy to help Al, because he's such a positive person. He always has a smile and is just a pleasant person to be around. Al was very happily surprised by the community and student support. In fact, he is now doing well and is back to work as of March 1," said Lafayette Campus President JoAnn Boudreaux.
