Through our associate’s degree program, you have a chance to benefit from classroom training and hands-on learning in our mock courtroom, forensics lab, and crime scene room.
These labs offer you the opportunity to gain valuable practice in fingerprint analysis, blood spatter detection, and crime scene analysis, using modern industry equipment. Classes are administered by faculty members with experience in the criminal justice field. Our Lafayette criminal justice instructors include retired members of the Natchitoches and Lafayette Police Departments, a former member of a local Parish Sheriff’s Office, and current board members of both a local battered women’s shelter and a rape crisis center. To offer you real-world perspectives, as a Lafayette criminal justice student there may be opportunities to take field trips to local criminal justice facilities such as the local courthouse, jail, police department, as well as listen to guest speakers from professional groups like the local SWAT team.
Our Criminal Justice associate’s degree program offers courses in corrections, criminal prosecution and trials, simulated crime scene analysis, evidence handling, security management, and more.
