On September 17, 2011, Memphis Campus Medical Assisting student Jameka Love was attending a community church picnic. Jameka was sitting at a picnic table eating lunch when she was suddenly called on to help a 15-year-old girl who had fallen and was having difficulty breathing.

Allied Health Students at Fort Worth Campus Focus on Certification
Representing our Medical Assisting with X-Ray (Limited Scope)/EKG and Medical Billing and Coding programs, a group of 51 Fort Worth Campus Allied Health students accepted the challenge, studied hard, and prepared to take one of the following certification exams on May 20, 2011: coding, medical assisting, EKG, or phlebotomy. “Passing my certification exam will allow me to have more opportunities in the medical field,” said MA-X student Julieta Serano.

2011’s Allied 9Health Fair at Colorado Springs Campus Is a Record-Smashing Success
With the help of many volunteers from the community and multiple Allied Health graduates and current students, Remington College – Colorado Springs Campus has just completed its fourth successful 9Health Fair, held on-site at the College on April 18.
This year, the Campus had an impressive 37 percent increase in the number of people to whom they were able to provide services. Most of the screenings were free, with a minimal cost for blood screenings, colorectal cancer screenings, and Vitamin D screenings.

Third Annual “HIV Awareness Day” Enlightens and Informs Students, Staff, and Employees at Columbia Campus

to offer free HIV five-minute tests for all interested parties as part

Remington College Receives National Partner of the Year Award from America’s Blood Centers
Remington College has been selected as the first recipient of America’s Blood Centers’ National Partner of the Year Award. The award, presented at ABC’s Awards of Excellence banquet on March 21, recognizes Remington College for its 3 Lives blood drive campaign,
an effort to raise awareness of the need for minority blood donors, as
well as collect blood on each Remington College campus. The program is
called 3 Lives because three lives may be saved for every one pint of
blood collected.
