    No GED or High School Diploma?

    Remington College's Medical Assisting diploma program may be able to help those who do not have a high school diploma or GED. This program can be completed in as few as 32 weeks – that’s only 8 months! Students attend classes five days a week, Monday through Friday and get a chance to train in a real health care setting as part of an externship, which is an unpaid, hands-on training opportunity.(1)

    • Drawing blood (Phlebotomy)
    • Giving shots/injections
    • Performing basic blood tests for glucose, cholesterol, and blood chemistry levels
    • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, also known as “CPR”

    Steps to Enroll and Graduate:

    1. Qualify for the program: 
      • Attend an information session and follow it up by passing an entrance exam.
      • Pass a background check.
      • Make satisfactory financial arrangements; financial aid is available to those who qualify
    2. Attend and pass your classes: 
      • Earn at least a 2.0 GPA in your Medical Assisting courses.
      • Complete an externship for real world training and experience.(1) 
    3. Prepare to earn your GED: 
      • Attend at least two of the three GED prep class sessions per module, which are made available at no additional cost to you.

    Program Benefits:

    • Books, equipment, lab fees, and scrubs are included in the price of your tuition.
    • Earning your GED is not required to complete your Medical Assisting diploma.
    • Remington College will pay for your first two attempts to earn a GED.(2) 
    • Remington College will also pay for your first attempt at certifications. Certifications you can pursue include:(4) 
      • Registered Medical Assistant exam (RMA)
        • Provided by the American Medical Technologists (AMT)
      • Nationally Registered title of Certified Medical Assistant exam (NRCMA)
        • Provided by the National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
      • Registered Phlebotomy Technician (RPT).(4) 
        • Provided by the American Medical Technologists (AMT)
