Remington College Medical Assisting Program graduate Bethany S. comments on her experience as a student. “The teachers, the classes, the whole experience was just wonderful,” says Bethany. She reflects on the thoroughness of the instructors and on their willingness to review topics that students may have some initial challenges with. Bethany beileves that she has been successful in her new job due largely to the hands-on, confidence-building labs and classroom experiences that were a part of her Remington College training.
Medical Assisting Program Overview Video
The program overview video explains that medical assistants work for physicians as well as in hospitals and other healthcare settings and are responsible for helping medical offices to run smoothly. Job duties typically include a mix of clerical and clinical tasks. Clerical tasks include appointment scheduling, typing, filing, and medical records management. Clinical tasks include taking medical histories, checking vital signs and blood pressure, and assisting with medical exams and lab tests. Students have the opportunity to practice what they’ve learned in clinical labs. Cleveland, Cleveland West, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Houston Campus facilities are featured.
Medical Assisting Instructor Testimonial
James Dickerson, the Associate Program Chairperson and a Medical Assisting instructor at our Dallas Campus, has been teaching at Remington College for 10 years. “It’s a rush,” says Mr. Dickerson. “When you see these kids finally get it, there’s no better thing.” His mission is to instill in students a thorough, hands-on understanding of all aspects of the medical assisting field, including human anatomy and physiology, so that they can feel well prepared to deal with patients on a daily basis. He feels very good about the career outlook for our graduates. And when his students come back to visit and say they’ve found a job, “That’s the best feeling. That’s the biggest reward,” says Mr. Dickerson.
