    Cosmetology School and Student Salon in Memphis

    Our Memphis Cosmetology program features five classrooms and a salon called "The Student Salon at Remington College," and whose clinic floor also serves as a classroom.

    The learning is varied, creative, and continuous, and the student salon offers promotions and specials regularly so that our cosmetologists-in-training get to interact and work with real clients.(1)

    Our training focuses on the total package, from head to toe.

    All of our student salon supplies and products come from major reputable vendors, and our program ensures that the materials are up to par for student and client use.

    You begin training in The Student Salon at Remington College during the initial phases of this 12-month diploma program.(2) Our professional salon setting can accommodate up to 32 students at a time, and you will be supervised by two instructors as you learn and practice the essentials of hair, skin, and nail care in preparation for taking your state board exam, later in the program.(1)

    Activities for Memphis Cosmetology School Students

    • Under their instructors' supervision, our Memphis Cosmetology students take regular field trips to businesses in the area like day spas, franchises, and independent salons, so they can observe different operating styles.
    • Guest speakers range from cosmetology professionals to financial planners and more. These events offer our students a great chance to learn about finances, entrepreneurship/business development, planning for retirement, and more.
    • Through class competitions and a student extravaganza, our Memphis Cosmetology students can showcase their creativity for others to see.
    • Our students have also visited local high schools to act as jurors for "ThinkShow" competitions. These contests give them the opportunity to see and comment on others' creativity with hairstyling or science projects.
    • Our Cosmetology classes have also attended local hair shows as participants and have won trophies in categories like Fantasy Hair, Barbering, Nails, and Executive Leadership.

    To give back to the community, our Cosmetology school in Memphis has taken part in efforts like these:

    • Assisting a Memphis women's shelter by offering facials, make-up applications, manicures, and pedicures to victims of domestic violence.
    • Visiting Concord Academy in Memphis to provide hair and make-up services to a group of special-needs students for their fall mixer.
    • Sponsoring "Cuts for Kids" events annually, which offer complimentary haircuts to children returning to school.
    • Participating in "Prom Night Makeovers,"which offer complimentary hair, nail, and facial services to prom-goers before they attend their high school prom.
    • Volunteering throughout the year at Teacher Education Association meetings or during Teacher Appreciation Week, rendering manicures, pedicures, or facial services to local teachers.
    • Inviting guests from local assisted-living programs to stop by the Campus salon and receive services.

    Each event has resulted in positive community recognition for our Memphis Cosmetology students and our school.
