Remington College Microsoft IT Academy
As part of the Computer and Network Administration (CNA) curriculum, you have the opportunity to earn up to six Microsoft certifications through the Microsoft IT Academy. These IT Academy courses are designed to help you earn certifications as either a Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) or a Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA).

As a ProPlatinum Microsoft IT Academy member, Remington College offers you the following:

Use of the Microsoft Official Academic Curriculum (MOAC)
MOAC is a complete package of IT Academy learning tools that provides instructors with coordinated textbooks, PowerPoint presentations, standardized lab setups, and much more, so that you can enjoy the benefits of a complete Microsoft-approved learning environment.

Cisco and Linux Courses
Remington College’s CNA program also includes training in Cisco routers and switches as well as the Linux operating system and the Linux-based email system, Sendmail. This gives you a great chance to round out your training and gain hands-on experience in non-Microsoft components like Cisco’s CCNA Network Simulator (installed on each laptop) and Linux (deployed using Microsoft’s Virtual PC).

Use of a Specially Configured Laptop
As a CNA program student, you’re given access to a specially configured laptop computer, which you can use to continue your studies outside of the school environment. Access to the laptop is included in the cost of tuition, and the laptop is yours to keep once you graduate! Certain restrictions apply; contact your local campus for more information.

Access to the Microsoft Student Online Campus (SOC)
The web-based SOC portal is exclusively for students enrolled in the IT Academy. The portal gives you easy access to a wealth of online campus resources designed to help you study for your Microsoft certifications, connect to online courses, find career opportunities, collaborate with other students, and network with faculty and IT professionals around the world.

Opportunities for Microsoft-Sponsored Mentoring
Faculty mentors are real-world IT pros who provide one-on-one guidance to academic faculty. Mentors answer questions and offer their insights about current issues, technologies, and the challenges that IT pros meet every day. This mentoring package also includes opportunities to collaborate with Microsoft’s Most Valuable Professionals (MVPs), who serve as lead mentors and conduct regional workshops and briefings.

Use of the Career Center Portal
The portal provides access to a database of job, internship, volunteer, and other career opportunities1 for students enrolled in the Microsoft IT Academy. It also includes access to résumé-writing help, career tips, newsletters, and other career resources. These valuable opportunities are the result of Microsoft IT Academy relationships with local businesses, the IT community, IT pro user groups, and MonsterTRAK.(1)

Microsoft Certifications and the Added Prestige of a Degree!
Remington College has carefully selected its mix of Microsoft IT certification exams and has integrated that with a comprehensive CNA Program curriculum, so that classes focusing on the Microsoft exams can also count toward earning your degree! While it’s not a requirement for you to pass the Microsoft exams to earn your degree, Remington College highly encourages it. In fact, we pay for your first exam attempt for each certification, if you meet certain GPA and other requirements.

Many cost-conscious businesses today recognize the value of an IT degree coupled with Microsoft certification. Why not choose a program that offers you both and can help you stand out in today’s challenging job market? Remington College’s Microsoft IT Academy package presents what we believe is a distinctive program offering in the IT education industry and one that will be well recognized and valued in the workplace.
