Honolulu MMA Event a Rewarding Experience for Remington College on Two Fronts Remington College - Honolulu Campus is committed to supporting the Honolulu community, in part by participating in local events and helping to provide local employers with qualified job applicants. In the case of the recent MMA Hawaii Expo, held on June 17 to 19, 2011, at the Blaisdell Center, our Honolulu college played an active role in both of those capacities. Sponsor and Exhibitor Our Honolulu Campus was a proud sponsor of the fourth annual MMA event, billed as "Hawaii's 'Baddest' Display of Big Boys and Their Toys." The gathering showcased a variety of products, services and entertainment, including: Mixed martial arts fights A jiu-jitsu tournament A tech garden displaying the latest electronic gadgets An auto and motorcycle showcase A bodybuilding competition A battle of the bands Remington College representatives set up an event booth, offered complimentary chair massages, and talked with many of those in attendance about the educational programs and training offered at our Honolulu Campus. Alma Mater of MMA Hawaii's Martin Han The Expo, produced by MMAhawaii.com, 2Flip Productions, and HPELive, was a success in large part because of another connection to Remington: 2006 International Business graduate Martin T. Han. Martin is the current Marketing Director for MMA Hawaii LLC, the largest news source for mixed martial arts on the Island. He, of course, was a key player during this recent event. "I was MMA's first employee, and the two owners are my mentors," said Martin. "Martin worked hard to make the event such a hit," said Honolulu Campus President Ken Heinemann. "We were all happy and proud to see him there, and we know he's got a great future ahead of him," he noted, adding, "It's rewarding to know that Remington College helped play a role in preparing Martin to get his degree and move closer to achieving his career goals." On his way to reaching his current level of success with MMA Hawaii, Martin credits our Honolulu Campus instructors with helping to give him the drive and determination he needed: "In Remington College, I found that local energy everybody was talking about. They respected me because of me and wanted me to truly succeed. The teachers knew how to get to me so I could work harder and dream bigger. It helped to create a new foundation of learning that I took with me into the real world. It helped me understand that there was more out there if I opened my eyes to learning and education."
