Pharmacy technicians work under the supervision of licensed pharmacists in many different types of retail locations, as well as hospitals.(2) The scope of work for pharmacy technicians is constantly broadening. Pharmacy Technician Program Overview

Remington College offers a combination of coursework, hands-on training and practical real-world pharmacy experience in our diploma program at one of 10 different locations across the country.(4,5)

 

As a student in our Pharmacy Technician school will have the opportunity to learn the basics of drug interactions, medical abbreviations, and dealing with patients.

 

Your pharmacy technician training will include a basic background in human structure and function, and you will have the chance to take courses in first aid, career development, and computers, as well as pharmacy law and ethics. Find out more about our pharmacy technician courses.

 

Pharmacy Technician diploma students have the opportunity to learn the basics of drug interactions, medical abbreviations, and dealing with patients. Certification

Registration shows employers that a Pharmacy Technician has met his or her state’s requirements to work in a pharmacy, handle prescription drugs, and work with patients. In many states, graduates must be registered with their state’s Board of Pharmacy before pursuing employment.

For states that require such registration, Remington College will pay for each of our Pharmacy Technician graduate’s State Board of Pharmacy registration fee upon successful completion of the program.

How to Get Your Certifications

Prior to graduating from the program, Remington College requires that students pass both the Sterile Products Certification exam and a nationally accredited Pharmacy Technician Certification exam.(1) Accordingly, all graduates from the Pharmacy Technician program at Remington College will hold at least two certifications. During the Pharmacy Technician program, students will also have a chance to earn their Extemporaneous Compounding certification.(1) There is no additional cost to students for the certification examinations, which are included in the cost of the program.(1,2)

 

Remington College believes that obtaining these two certifications serves to assure both graduates and employers that Remington College graduates have received an education that has adequately equipped them for the duties and responsibilities of a pharmacy technician, and may help distinguish them from other job applicants.(2)

Many states require pharmacy technicians to register with a state board. Our Pharmacy Technician program provides the opportunity for you to pursue professional certification, obtain the title of Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by passing a nationally accredited Pharmacy Technician certification exam. Included in the cost of tuition is the first attempt at a nationally accredited Pharmacy Technician certification exam.
