    Remington College's Associate of Science in Practical Nursing will help prepare you for an entry-level career(1) in nursing, working in a hospital, assisted living facility, school, physician's office, or other type of healthcare facility.

    The Associate of Science in Practical Nursing degree is comprised of classroom, lab and clinical practice at one of our many clinical sites, which include hospitals, assisted living facilities, clinics and skilled nursing facilities. Before you start working with patients in the clinical environment, you will be practicing in our modern simulation lab at the campus with faculty beside you every step of the way. Our industry experienced instructors have numerous years of experience working in a variety of clinical settings within the nursing field.

    Associate of Science in Practical Nursing Degree

    Nurses assist in treating and healing patients by checking patient's vital signs, administering medications, performing routine procedures like changing bandages and catheters, helping patients who need assistance because of age or disability, keeping records, and reporting to the doctors and registered nurses on their patient's health.     The Associate of Science in Practical Nursing degree consists of seven 12- week quarters which include classroom hours and lab/clinical hours so that you develop the knowledge and skills required of a graduate practical nurse.

    Practical Nursing as a Career

    According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment of licensed practical and licensed vocational nurses is projected to grow by 16 percent between 2014 and 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations.(3)

    Licensed Practical Nurse 

    Our program prepares students to take the NCLEX-PN exam to become licensed as a practical nurse in Louisiana.
