Orientation Process
Staff and faculty members conduct one or more orientation sessions for new students. These sessions offer information on program schedules, campus policies and procedures, student’s financial aid responsibilities, services offered by the campus Career Services team, a review of the Code of Student Conduct, and other items that may be of interest.
Distance Learning (available in some programs)
Online classes are available for certain degree programs at select campuses only. See the Programs page for more information on the traditional and online programs offered at your campus. Online classes are conducted via the Internet. The instructor and/or all class members may not be online at the same time (known as the “asynchronous mode”), offering you the chance to learn on your own schedule.
Admission requirements for online degree programs are the same as the standard admission steps, except that the interview and Application and Enrollment Agreement may be completed by phone or mail.
Online students must complete a one-week, non-credit, online orientation (with test exercises) to become acquainted with the virtual classroom environment. Students who have enrolled may complete the exercises at any time during the week before their program starts. More details are in the Campus Catalog. If you’re interested in an online program, please contact a campus admissions rep.
Laptop Computer (available in some programs)
In certain degree programs, you’re given a laptop to use while you’re enrolled, and it’s yours to keep after you graduate. There’s no extra cost for the laptop – it’s included in the cost of your tuition. Certain restrictions apply. Please see the Programs page or contact a campus admissions rep for more information on which programs currently offer a laptop.
Externships (available in some programs)
If your program of study includes an on-the-job training opportunity (“externship”), your externship coordinator can assist you with any questions or issues you may have regarding the job or the externship site.
