Our associate’s degree program emphasizes hands-on practice and real-world understanding through instruction provided by industry experienced professionals and guest speakers, regular field trips to local criminal justice organization and agencies, and practical lab work in our four dedicated labs.
Members of our instructional staff have diverse backgrounds, including the military, Shreveport Police Department, District Attorney’s office, Bossier Parish Sherriff’s Department, Richmond County Sheriff’s Department, Coast Guard and more. They also belong to professional organizations such as the Ark-La-Tex Chapter of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), Louisiana State Bar Association, American Association for Justice, Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association, Louisiana Division of the International Association for Identification, American Criminal Justice Association (ACJA), and more. Their experience reflects the many possible routes criminal justice careers can follow, and their instruction covers key topics in contemporary criminal justice: criminal prosecution, constitutional law, crime scene analysis, inmate control, evidence handling and much more.
