Giving Back: Shreveport Job Fair Held on June 12, 2009 "We're not economists or experts on the local unemployment statistics. We're just trying to do our part to help by connecting job seekers with businesses looking for good workers." That, says Remington College - Shreveport Campus President Jerry Driskill, was the core purpose behind the KTBS-3/Remington College Job Fair, which was open to the public and held at the Campus on Friday, June 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This partnership between KTBS-3 and Remington College gave about 600 job candidates a chance to interview with 20 local employers currently hiring in the Shreveport area, including the U.S. Army, Goodwill Industries, AFLAC Insurance, Diamond Jacks Casino and Resort, the Shreveport VA Medical Center, First Choice Personnel, JDS Restaurants, and the Shreveport City Marshall's Office. Several attendees seemed encouraged to see so many companies taking applications, even in a tough economy. Says Mr. Driskill, "Remington College is committed to being involved in the Shreveport community, and we'll continue to explore job fairs and other career-related activities again in the future."
