Remington College – Tampa Campus Grand Opening

REMINGTON COLLEGE HOSTS GRAND OPENING EVENT ON AUGUST 21st TO COMMEMORATE NEW TAMPA CAMPUS

Tampa, FL - August 8, 2008 – Remington College is starting a new chapter in its long history of providing career training for Tampa area students. The school, which debuted as Tampa Tech in 1948, will introduce its new Tampa campus with a grand opening event on Thursday, August 21 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at noon.

Located at 6302 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Remington College’s 42,000-square-foot facility will include features like a comprehensive gym for the personal training diploma program and a modern clinic for medical assisting students.

“Our new campus will allow us to provide a wider range of career training opportunities since it is a new facility with new equipment and more space that permits us to offer additional programs,” said Dr. Rosalie Lampone, who is president of Remington College’s Tampa campus, which is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). “The new location is central to I-4, I-75, and State Route 301, so it will be conveniently accessible for our students.”

When the educational institution that is now known as Remington College started as Tampa Technical Institute in 1948, it was the first private post-secondary school licensed by the State of Florida and specialized in technology career training. Today, Remington College offers a diverse menu of programs that allow students to earn diplomas, associate’s degrees and bachelor’s degrees. Technology is still among the choices of study as Remington College is a Microsoft certified academy and provides training in Electronic Technology, and Computer and Network Administration.

The Tampa campus will also feature programs in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Operations Management, Medical Assisting, Medical Insurance and Coding and Personal Fitness Trainer.

“Remington College is not a traditional college,” said Jack Forrest, who is president and CEO of Remington Administrative Services, Inc. which is headquartered in Orlando and has campuses nationwide. “We help our students develop skills that prepare them for new careers, and many of our programs can be completed in a year or less.

“Remington College strives to make it convenient for our students to finish their education – including the hours that classes are offered, our active career services department and our student financial associate reps who are available to answer questions about financial aid or other financial assistance programs,” Forrest stated.

Remington College focuses on offering “real skills for the real world,” Dr. Lampone said.

“Our instructors have professional experience in the field they are teaching, and since the student-to-teacher ratio is small, students receive one-on-one attention,” Dr. Lampone added. “We feel that is important for preparing our students for their actual work environment.”

At the grand opening event on August 21, prospective students will have a chance to tour the facility and speak to instructors in the different career training programs that are offered at Remington College’s Tampa campus.

“Over the years, we have heard many stories from graduates whose lives were positively impacted by their Remington College education,” Forrest said. “Since we will have a wider range of programs at the new campus, we hope to have a positive impact on an even more substantial number of students,” Forrest added.
