Program Summary

The Health Information Technology Associate’s Degree Program provides training in health information technology. The curriculum also covers collecting, analyzing, coding, integrating, protecting, securing, managing, and maintaining the integrity of healthcare information. The objective of this Program is to prepare graduates for entry - level positions in the health information technology field. This Program requires completion of a minimum of 100 quarter credit hours. Program completion normally requires 24 months for full - time students. The Program is divided into eight three - month quarters. Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater for professional practice eligibility. For information on the professional practice experience required to complete the program, please see the Information about the Professional Practice Experience Portion of the Health Information Technology and Health Information Management Programs section of this College Catalog. Upon successful completion of all areas of this Program, graduates will be awarded an Associate of Science Degree in Health Information Technology (except for graduates from the state of Tennessee, who will be awarded an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Health Information Technology). Graduates will be eligible to apply for the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) exam. Completion of Remington College’s Health Information Technology Program does not guarantee that a graduate will pass the RHIT exam.
