Train for a job in Dallas' growing restaurant, hospitality and retail industry

By Remington College Posted April 3, 2019

Think back to the last trip you took. You probably remember trying different restaurants, staying in a nice hotel and exploring shops and attractions with friends and family. But who made all of this possible for you? It's the people waiting your table, checking you in to your luxurious room or answering your questions at a store or theme park who make sure your vacation is a success. They're the people who greet you, welcome you into their town and ensure you have the best experience possible.

Dallas, Texas, is no stranger to tourists. Located in America's second most populous state, the city sees an average of 24.9 million visitors a year and 48.9 million visitors to the metro area annually. As the cultural and commercial hub of its region, it's no wonder Dallas is seeing job growth. In fact, Dallas' hotel building boom was second only to New York City for the first part of 2018.

What does this mean for you? There could be an opportunity for you to work in the hospitality industry. Although finding an entry-level job in this field is possible, there's a way to gain an edge on the competition. A trade school training program can provide you with the necessary classes so you can develop the skills needed to excel in the tourism industry.

That's where Remington College can help. The college recently announced a new Restaurant, Hospitality and Retail Management Degree Program at several campuses, including the Dallas campus.

The program provides training in a broad range of concepts and skills needed in the restaurant, hospitality, tourism and retail industries. Classes include everything from operational essentials such as event planning and logistics, foodservice management, and customer service management to skills needed to keep a business profitable and running smoothly, such as human resources, record keeping and marketing and sales.

The program can help provide students with the training they may need to find a job in event planning and management, restaurant management, retail store management, hotel management, catering, tourism sales and more.1 Students earn an associate degree, and the program can be completed in as few as 21 months.2

The restaurant, retail, and hospitality industries provide a fast-paced work environment where different challenges arise daily and employees are always tasked with providing top-notch customer service and the best experiences.
