Students who possess a diploma from Remington College in the 13 month Pharmacy Technician program (1) can transfer 100% of their credits towards earning their associate degree.(2)

 

Students enrolled in the Pharmacy Technician degree program will study the training that may help them transition into the real world.(2)

 

Throughout the course of this program, you’ll have the opportunity to learn medical fundamentals that include how to perform basic clinical procedures and the essentials of pharmacology that includes terminology, calculations and prescription interactions.

Pharmacy Technician training includes:

  • Classroom Training
  • Familiarization with Pharmacological Terminology
  • Hands-on Laboratory Experience
  • Externship in a Working Pharmacy

 

As part of your curriculum you will have the opportunity to receive hands on training in prescription interpretation, sterile product mixtures and compounding, and the relationship between the pharmacist and the pharmacy technician. Besides prescription drugs, a pharmacy technician will also be responsible for familiarizing the patient with medical devices such as bronchial inhalers and nasal dilators.

 

Additionally, as a part of our Pharmacy Technician course work, the externship will allow you the opportunity to train in a realistic pharmacy setting, working side-by-side with real pharmacy technicians..

Certification

Registration shows employers that a Pharmacy Technician has met his or her state’s requirements to work in a pharmacy, handle prescription drugs, and work with patients. In many states, graduates must be registered with their state’s Board of Pharmacy before pursuing employment.

For states that require such registration, Remington College will pay for each of our Pharmacy Technician graduate’s State Board of Pharmacy registration fee upon successful completion of the program.

How to Get Your Certifications

Prior to graduating from the program, Remington College requires that students pass both the Sterile Products Certification exam and a nationally accredited Pharmacy Technician Certification exam.(1) Accordingly, all graduates from the Pharmacy Technician program at Remington College will hold at least two certifications. During the Pharmacy Technician program, students will also have a chance to earn their Extemporaneous Compounding certification.(1) There is no additional cost to students for the certification examinations, which are included in the cost of the program.(1,2)

Remington College believes that obtaining these two certifications serves to assure both graduates and employers that Remington College graduates have received an education that has adequately equipped them for the duties and responsibilities of a pharmacy technician, and may help distinguish them from other job applicants.(2)
