How can I continue my education?

By Remington College Posted April 21, 2020

How can I continue my education?

Upon graduating high school, your life can go in many directions. You could join the military, enter the workforce, work abroad or spend time volunteering. You might get married or start a family, make a move or buy a house.

But what do you do when you're ready to continue your education? After spending time away from school, it can difficult to return. Whether you're balancing busy schedules, taking care of your kids or working a full-time job, it can be hard to even think about the actions you must take to get started.

Although it can be a challenge, pursuing higher education might be a sacrifice that can pay off. Earning a college degree can not only fill you with a sense of accomplishment, but it could help you expand your skill set and open doors to more employment opportunities.[i] In fact, statistics show on average, more education leads to lower unemployment rates and higher earnings.

At Remington College, we understand how important a quality education can be to future success. We're here to help you! Getting started can be tough, so we've put together a list of things to consider when going back to school:

It seems simple, but finding the right school is essential. Do you want a traditional four-year university, or are you considering a community college? What about a technical school? Is there a location nearby, or are you willing to travel? And don't forget about online options! Is the school you're considering accredited? Is it important to you that your school is nonprofit?

Once you've pondered these important questions and done some research, you will likely also want to visit the school, take a tour and speak with a representative to get a sense of if it will be a good fit for you.

At nonprofit Remington College, we're proud to have 12 campuses across the U.S. and an online program, making us accessible to many, regardless of location.  Remington College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC).

If you have a hectic schedule, you need a career training program that's convenient for you.

At Remington College, our programs feature schedules designed to give you the convenience you need. Our online program allows you to complete coursework wherever you are, and rather than adhere to semesters, we have programs starting regularly so you can dive in right away.

One of the ultimate goals of college is to develop the knowledge and skills to pursue a career in a specific field. There could be many options open to you, so it helps to have an idea of what you would like to study. Thinking about your interests, evaluating your current skills and looking at the Bureau of Labor Statistics to find jobs in demand in your area are great jumping off points.

At Remington College, we offer degrees across many industries including: healthcare, trades, technology, business, legal/criminal justice, health and beauty, creative arts,  and culinary.

Once you have a good idea of what school you might want to attend, talking to an admissions representative is a good idea. They can help you understand financial aid and what materials you need to gather'like transcripts'before applying.

The last step? Take a deep breath and enroll in your chosen school. Now, the real work starts as you begin your exciting journey toward higher education.
