MEMPHIS, Tenn. (June 26, 2018) ' Remington College Criminal Justice Degree Program graduates now have more opportunities for employment in the Memphis area.1
The Memphis Police Department is now accepting recruits with associate degrees from nationally accredited higher learning institutions such as nonprofit Remington College.
'At Remington College, our goal is to help our students get the training and education they need to find meaningful employment,' said Sherria King, Remington College Memphis Campus president. 'This update from MPD will open even more doors for our graduates to work in the field they want and serve their community.'
Remington College Memphis Campus offers a Degree Program in Criminal Justice in which students earn an associate degree. The program covers the basics of criminal law, crime scene processing, forensic science, law enforcement operations and ethics. It also includes a lab component for hands-on training.
The program requires a minimum of 92 credit hours and typically takes full-time students 18 months to complete. 2 In addition to job opportunities with the police department, the program prepares students for entry-level positions in corrections, loss prevention and security.1
In addition to education requirements, police department recruits must also be at least 21 years old upon completion of the training program; possess a valid driver license; pass testing to qualify as a recruit; and not have been convicted of, pled guilty or pled no contest to any felony charges.
MPD is currently accepting applications for the 127th basic recruit class, which will begin Oct. 1.
